Is it wrong to become a single parent?

I live in Portland and I’m a successful business woman. I have heard about single parenting and seen many people availing the benefit of it. I also want to adopt a child and experience maternity without marrying anybody. There are some personal reasons behind this decision. Though I belong from a well educated family but still my family is standing against me because of my decision. But I want to adopt a child because I get motivated from some of my friends who love to be called as single father and mother. I want to know that is it wrong to be a single mom? Can I adopt a child and get a chance to become a successful mom. Would I face any legal obstacles in doing so?

anonymous 		Just wanted to share with you...My wife and I met on Singleparentkiss.com. We started conversing in September of '06 and finally met in November of '06. We eloped in April of this year. We have 5 children between us and it gets real crazy sometimes, but that's life! I just wanted to let you know how unbelievably happy we are and how great the last two years have been. If it wasn't for the site, I would have never met wife.

SinglemomCA 		No, it is not wrong at any aspect to adopt a child and give love and affection to him/her. It doesn’t matter that you don’t want to marry and experience parenting after wedlock. In country like US, you can find many single mom and dads who are very happy with their children. And according to the news, one out of four children is raised due to single parenting in US. You can adopt a child by going against your family if you are mentally prepared. Of course, there are some rules and regulations and some legal procedures before adopting a child as a single parent. It is only for the security and future of the child. But in case of yours, you are a business woman and you can give any child a cared, happy and good life. Hence, you can easily get a child and avail the wonderful experience of parenting. Not only this, you give a new and better life to an orphan.
